Building Connections and Celebrating Youth: Highlights from Our School Holiday Program
Our recent School Holiday program was a wonderful success. We experienced connection, creativity, fun and plenty of laughter. Throughout April, our Settlement team created safe and engaging spaces where young people could connect, take on challenges, and build meaningful friendships.
During our Game Night on the 9th of April, we kicked off the program with an energetic evening, featuring a range of fun activities that encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and connection. The session was designed to both challenge and engage our participants, and the atmosphere was electric with laughter and excitement. We were especially proud to have our university students on placement design and run this session, a fantastic example of leadership, creativity, and youth engagement.
On the 14th of April, we attended the Headspace Meet & Eat event, a valuable opportunity for youth to learn more about Headspace and the mental and emotional health supports available to them. Our participants engaged in meaningful discussions, asked insightful questions, and connected through interactive games in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Finally, we wrapped up the program with a much-loved and relaxed Movie Night on the 16th of April. The room was full, and laughter could be heard throughout the evening during the screening of Zootopia 2, providing the perfect opportunity to unwind, connect, and end the school holidays on a positive note.
We are incredibly proud of the young people who participated with such enthusiasm and openness, and grateful to our Settlement team and students on placement for their dedication and creativity. Programs like these highlight the importance of connection, fun, and safe spaces in supporting young people’s wellbeing.
