SETS After School Youth Hub
We are excited to share that our SETS After School Youth Hub launched on the 9th of June in partnership with PCYC, creating a welcoming and inclusive space for young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds, including newly arrived young people, to connect, participate and feel a stronger sense of belonging in their local community.
The first session was a wonderful start, with youth coming together to enjoy activities, build connections and try something new. A group of young women also took part in a private yoga class, supporting wellbeing, confidence and connection. On the 16th of June, our participants joined Steve from PCYC for a boxing class, adding another exciting opportunity to stay active, learn new skills and engage in a supportive environment.
Aligned with our Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) program, the Youth Hub supports young people in strengthening social connections, confidence, communication skills, and practical life skills through both structured and informal activities, including boxing, basketball, soccer, gaming, creative arts, wellbeing activities and flexible spaces for physical, educational and personal development programs.
Facilitated by our SETS case managers, with support from PCYC, the hub uses a trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally responsive approach to ensure young people feel encouraged, supported and empowered to thrive.
We look forward to seeing this space continue to grow as a place where young people can stay active, make positive choices and build meaningful connections.
