R U OK? Workshop

In June, we hosted a very insightful R U OK? Workshop with the R U OK? team. Attendees discussed the importance of initiating a conversation when you notice someone is not feeling ok. This question can be particularly impactful in diverse communities, where language and cultural barriers might prevent individuals from seeking help. But before asking, you need to ask yourself, "Am I ready? "Am I prepared? And have I picked my moment?"

During the session, we discussed the four steps to having this conversation: Ask, "Are you ok?", then listen, encourage action, and check in after the conversation.

We got such great feedback:

“Fabulous session, great information, want to keep the conversation going.”

“It was a really good topic, talking about mental health and suicide is really important in those times when we are living under a lot of stress and crisis. Nothing negative to say. Continue doing this kind of workshop and share more information with the multicultural community.“

“Very helpful, lots of info, yummy dinner. Merci, loved it.”

“Very informative. I really enjoyed it. Thank you!”

“I found it very helpful, especially the part about communication strategies. The presenter was clear and engaging. I like the presentation.”

Thank you to our Community Pathway Connector team for putting this workshop together, and to the R U OK? team for leading the conversation.
