NAIDOC Month Celebration

We were truly honoured this week during our NAIDOC celebration to welcome representatives from the Yugambeh Region Aboriginal Corporation Alliance (YRACA), Uncle John, Lalania Tusa, Zhane, and Nathan, who came to our Ashmore office and shared their incredible knowledge of First Nations history, culture, and achievements with our staff, student placements and members.

The celebration featured a beautifully spoken Welcome to Country by Uncle John, a Smoking Ceremony led by Nathan that some of us experienced for the first time, and cultural workshops conducted by him, Lalaina and Zhane, where we experienced painting, weaving, fire making, and artefacts and tools talk.

Thank you to YRACA and our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Committee for leading the celebration. At MCCGC, we are committed to creating and facilitating spaces for our multicultural community that foster understanding and education about Indigenous cultures, highlighting their perspectives and contributions.
