MCCGC Staff Spotlight: Monica Presents at Two Key Conferences
We’re proud of Monica, our Senior Mental Health Recovery Worker, for presenting at the Gold Coast Mental Health Symposium and at the QLD PHN Commonwealth Psychosocial Support Program Conference.
At the Gold Coast event, Monica shared insights from Culture in Mind, our new program in partnership with World Wellness Group, funded by Queensland Health. It offers culturally responsive non-clinical psychosocial support mental health and wellbeing in multicultural individuals and families. The symposium highlighted the importance of cultural awareness, lived experience, trauma-informed care, and collaboration to improve mental health outcomes.
At the QLD PHN Conference, Monica showcased results from our Women’s Group and Generation Men’s Group under the Community Pathway Connector (CPC) program. The aim was to highlight the positive impact of these two groups on individual recovery and social connection through building resilience, confidence, and social inclusion in safe, culturally responsive spaces.
Culturally responsive and gender-specific support groups have been shown to improve mental health outcomes. Feedback shows participants thrive when sharing experiences and learning life skills.
Both events strengthened networks across the mental health and community services sectors and reinforced our commitment to recovery, resilience, and culturally inclusive mental health support.
