Dr Fatemeh Highlights the Importance of Culturally Sensitive Dietetic Services at Griffith University Talk
11/09/2025

Our lovely Accredited Practising Dietitian, Dr Fatemeh, gave a talk to Nutrition and Dietetic students from Nagoya University of Arts and Sciences (NUAS) at Griffith University. The session was organised by International Student Services at Griffith.
Dr Fatemeh's presentation was all about “The Role of Dietitians and Nutritionists” in Australia's multicultural society. She emphasised how important it is to offer dietetic services that respect and understand different cultures.
Dr Fatemeh explained that providing culturally sensitive dietetic services means making sure nutrition care is respectful, relevant, and effective for people from all backgrounds. This involves understanding clients' cultural beliefs, food traditions, dietary restrictions, and language needs. This approach helps build trust, improves engagement, and supports realistic, sustainable dietary changes. By doing this, we not only improve health outcomes but also reduce health inequalities in multicultural communities.
