Care Finder Navigator

As a Navigator in our Care Finder Program, you'll play a crucial role in helping seniors who need intensive support to understand and access aged care services. You'll also connect them with other essential community supports.
In this role, you'll provide localised, face-to-face, specialised assistance through a person-centered approach that honours each individual's unique needs, preferences, values, life experiences, and choices.
What you will do:
- Working face-to-face with clients to conduct intakes, assess needs, create individual support plans, etc.
- Assisting clients in understanding and accessing aged care supports, including contacting My Aged Care and supporting through assessment if required
- Supporting clients to understand their service provider options and make informed decisions based on their unique needs and experience
- Conducting follow-up check-ins with clients to determine satisfaction with service providers and support
- Seeking feedback from clients on their experience within the Care Finder program
- Leading community information sessions on aged care services and the Care Finder program
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Cert IV or higher in Community Services or relevant industry experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Local connections with community groups, seniors, service providers, and other relevant stakeholders
- Experience and detailed understanding of My Aged Care, aged care services, community supports, and eligibility requirements
- A commitment to delivering a person-centred and respectful approach that fosters consumer choice
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people
- A commitment to supporting the needs of people with diverse backgrounds and life experiences
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Administrative skills and experience with systems, databases, and portals

Multicultural Peer Support Worker (Japanese/Thai/Indonesian/Samoan/Bosnian)

Multicultural Peer Support Workers (MPSWs) play a vital role in delivering the Cultural in Mind program, which offers non-medical mental health support by offering culturally attuned, relational support to clients from diverse backgrounds. This role is grounded in shared lived experience, cultural understanding, and the ability to foster trust and connection beyond language. MPSWs help clients feel seen, heard, and understood through creating culturally safe spaces that support recovery and engagement with mental health services.
To better support our clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, we encourage applications from candidates who speak Japanese, Thai, Indonesian, Samoan and Bosnian.
About you:

Provide peer support that reflects shared lived experiences of migration, cultural identity, and navigating mental health systems.

Build trust and rapport with clients through culturally meaningful conversations and relational practices.

Act as a relational bridge between clients and mental health practitioners, helping clients feel safe and empowered to engage with services.

Prepare clients for the sessions with the MMHRW by contextualising mental health topics within their cultural worldview, including sensitive issues such as domestic violence, child loss, or trauma.

Work alongside MMHRW to support the development of strong therapeutic relationships, ensuring transparency and alignment in client care.

Support clients in understanding and navigating mental health services, managing expectations, and promoting agency and participation.

Assist MMHRW in understanding cultural nuances and client perspectives, contributing to more effective and respectful service delivery.

Ability to speak English and Samoan and Bosnian.
What You Must Have:

Lived experience of migration, cultural adaptation, and mental health challenges.

Ability to engage with clients in a culturally safe and empathetic manner.

Driver’s license & a comprehensively insured car

Current Police Check and Working with Children Check (Blue Card)

Understanding of cultural taboos, explanatory models, and community dynamics.

Capacity to work collaboratively with mental health practitioners.

Ability to manage sensitive conversations with discretion and care.

Commitment to recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice.

Engaging in group supervision, with the aim of fostering reflective practice, peer support, and continuous professional development.

Language Support Worker - Tigrayan, Arabic, Dari, and Pashto languages

The role reports to the Settlement Team Leader and involves working with clients, suppliers, and government agencies. As a Language Support Worker, you will build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. You will collaborate with the Settlements Team to ensure clients’ needs are met. Your role also involves connecting service providers to ensure appointments are communicated to clients and attended. To better support our clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, we encourage applications from candidates who speak Tigrayan, Arabic, Dari, and Pashto.
What you will do:

Excellent Cross-cultural communication skills
-
Good understanding of issues relating to emerging multicultural communities, children, young people, and families, and requirements in relation to accessing services

Demonstrated knowledge of family support and services to families and youth from CALD backgrounds
-
Knowledge of relevant government and non-government agencies and their services on the Gold Coast, and how to refer/connect clients
-
Communication skills (both written and oral)
-
Experience in running workshops and information sessions with multicultural communities
-
Ability to speak English and other language(s) from one or more of the following countries: Tigrayan, Arabic, Dari, and Pashto languages

Computer literacy - specifically MS Office and accurate data entry skills
About You

Knowledge of Gold Coast Services (Health, Education, Transport, Housing, and other Community Services)

Driver’s license & a comprehensively insured car

Current Police Check and Working With Children Check (Blue Card)

Experience in report writing and client casework, including administrative tasks

Skills in organising community education program workshops and engaging community facilitators
-
Must have knowledge/experience working with a culturally and linguistically diverse workforce
